Msani Rejuvenating Mpwapwa Tanzania Villages Project
Project Overview:
The Msani Rejuvenating Mpwapwa Tanzania Villages Project aimed to restore degraded village forests and improve community livelihoods through sustainable natural resource management. Prior to the project, the targeted village forests were experiencing severe deforestation caused mainly by firewood collection and unsustainable land use practices. Soil erosion had become widespread, negatively affecting agricultural productivity, food security, health, and household incomes
WAPEDO worked closely with village forest conservation groups and local authorities to rehabilitate natural and semi‑natural forest habitats. The project promoted indigenous tree species, agroforestry practices, and community stewardship as practical solutions to environmental degradation while supporting local livelihoods..
