Community – Led Forest Restoration Project
Project Overview:
Building on the success of earlier forest restoration initiatives, WAPEDO continues to support reforestation and ecosystem restoration activities in degraded landscapes. The initiative focuses on restoring forest cover, enhancing biodiversity, and strengthening community resilience to climate change

Location: Mpwapwa District and other selected areas in Tanzania
Objectives
1) Restore degraded forest and semi‑natural habitats
2) Enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services
3) Strengthen community participation in environmental stewardship
Key Activities
1) Raising indigenous and agroforestry seedlings in community nurseries
2) Tree planting in degraded forest areas and communal lands
3) Community training on forest management and climate resilience

1) Increased forest cover and biodiversity
2) Improved soil stability and reduced erosion
3) Strengthened community ownership of conservation initiatives
