Organic Agriculture Project

Project Overview:

The Organic Agriculture Project supports small-scale farmers to transition towards environmentally friendly and sustainable farming systems. WAPEDO promotes organic farming practices that protect soil health, reduce dependency on synthetic inputs, and improve long-term productivity.

The project focuses on building farmers’ practical skills in the use of natural inputs, soil conservation techniques, and sustainable crop management methods that enhance both yield quality and quantity while safeguarding the environment.

Location: Mpwapwa District, Dodoma Region, Tanzania

Objectives

1) Promote adoption of organic farming practices among small-scale producers

2) Improve soil fertility and soil health through natural inputs and conservation methods

3) Enhance crop productivity and quality using sustainable approaches

Key Activities

1) Training farmers on organic farming principles and practices
2) Capacity building on preparation and use of organic inputs
3) Demonstration of soil conservation techniques
4) Farmer-to-farmer knowledge transfer and mentoring

Results and Achievements

1) Three (3) farmers trained through a certified organic agriculture course
2) Trained farmers transferred organic farming knowledge to an additional fifteen (15) local farmers
3) Participating farmers recorded improvements in both quality and quantity of crop yields compared to previous conventional practices
